GCSE
A solid grade in GCSE Mathematics is essential, not only for accessing STEM degrees but also as a key qualification that future employers value. For this reason, achieving a strong result is one of the most important steps a student can take.
Enrolling in a parallel online course alongside school lessons has proven highly effective. It provides a dedicated space for students to revisit topics, reinforcing learning through spaced repetition and retrieval practice. This helps embed knowledge into long-term memory. Students can also preview content ahead of their class, allowing them to engage more deeply in school and focus immediately on applying skills to challenging Grade 9 problem-solving questions.
Mr Armitage’s online GCSE course covers the entire Higher Tier curriculum in a structured and well-planned sequence. This approach allows students to build on prior knowledge, cementing core concepts so they can apply them with confidence.
The course runs online from November in Year 10 through to May in Year 11, concluding just before the final exams.
How the Course Works:
Weekly Live Sessions: One-hour lessons are held weekly via Zoom.
Expert Instruction: Every session is prepared and delivered by Mr Armitage, who draws on his experience as Head of Mathematics at a leading independent London school.
Interactive Learning: Live lessons introduce new concepts through worked examples and interactive teaching.
Consolidated Progress: Homework is assigned after each session to consolidate learning, ensuring continuous progress and mastery of the material.
During each live lesson, pupils are introduced to new concepts through worked examples and interactive teaching. To support this, all pupils receive a subscription to Atom Learning, widely recognised as the premier online platform ongoing mathematical mastery (an annual subscription ordinarily costing £480). Mr Armitage uses this tool to set targeted homework that directly reinforces the weekly lessons and ensures a continuous, effective learning journey between sessions.

While the core content of GCSE Mathematics is largely consistent across UK exam boards, differences exist in exam structure and question style.
This course is specifically tailored to the Edexcel GCSE specification, and its content has full alignment with AQA and OCR.
For students taking the WJEC Eduqas specification, please note that while the fundamental maths skills taught will be highly beneficial, the style of exam questions can differ significantly.
For iGCSE Students (Common in Independent Schools):
Three supplementary sessions are offered in October of Year 11 to cover topics unique to the iGCSE specification, ensuring a complete preparation for your exams. -
Whilst it will be most beneficial for pupils to learn in a structured weekly session, we all know that there are reasons why one week might be impossible. For that reason, all lessons are recorded and can be emailed to you after the session, upon request.
